Jamie Paterson talks planned as attacker stays at Swansea City after multiple QPR transfer bids rejected

Russell Martin will hold talks with Jamie Paterson over the attacker's position at Swansea City following the conclusion of the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old has missed the Swans' previous four matches due to a contract dispute with the club's owners.

He was the subject of fierce interest from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers throughout January, although a move to The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium never materialised.

Swansea rejected a total of three bids for the playmaker from the Londoners, one of which was submitted on deadline day.

But Martin is now poised to make discussions over Paterson's future at the club a priority with 20 games of the season left to be played.

"I just want the transfer window to shut so we know what's happening and I can have a proper chat with Pato," Martin said after the loss to Saturday on Hull City.

"His head is scrambled, bless him. He doesn't know what's going on, he's finding it really hard to focus and concentrate.

"His mental health is the most important thing. The situation could have been easily avoided I think, from all parties. Just one way or another I want it resolved."

Paterson - who has been training with the club's under-23s - has scored eight goals and registered four assists in his 22 Championship outings for Swansea so far this term.

Martin has regularly stated his desire to re-integrate Paterson into first team proceedings, although it is expected to take the ex-Bristol City man time to return to full fitness following an extended period out of action.
