Jamie McGrath rejects Hibs despite St Mirren accepting late offer as Aberdeen wait in the wings

Jamie McGrath is set to turn down the chance to join Hibernian - but St Mirren remain keen on taking Alex Gogic off Shaun Maloney's hands.

Record Sport understands Hibs made their move for the Buddies' Ireland international on Sunday, with a £150,000-player swap.

But the out-of-contract former Dundalk ace is instead likely to stay put in Paisley.

The news will be a major boost to boss Jim Goodwin, who has been desperate to cling onto his star midfield man.

However, Aberdeen - who saw talks on a pre-contract break down earlier this month - are monitoring the situation ahead of Monday's transfer deadline, along with English League One outfit Wigan.

Goodwin is, though, hoping to push through a deal for Gogic.
