Jamie McGrath backs Aberdeen to kick on after double delight

Aberdeen midfielder Jamie McGrath is confident the Dons can have a strong second half to the season after rounding off a busy schedule with victory in Dingwall.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder hit two goals in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Ross County, which moved the Dons four points above their opponents and three points off the top six in the cinch Premiership.

Barry Robson’s side often struggled to cope with league games immediately after their eight European matches and McGrath believes the winter break can help them reset.

McGrath told RedTV: "That’s the message the gaffer has been laying into us: stay in the fight until Christmas and then hopefully in the new year we can really kick on.

"We have a few games in hand, a few games called off over Christmas which we would have liked to play. But we have a few days off now to rest and recover. It’s been a busy first six months so I think that will do the squad good.

"We will be hungry coming back and looking to attack the second half of the season."
