Jamie Carragher says Man City's Kevin De Bruyne would be his dream transfer for Liverpool

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has named Kevin De Bruyne as his dream signing for his former club.

Carragher also hailed the Manchester City star as the ‘best midfielder in the world’ and that he would love to see him lining up for his old side.

De Bruyne has been the cornerstone of a City team that has scooped three of the last four Premier League titles, and Pep Guardiola’s side are in pole position to win this season’s race too.

Carragher chose the Belgium ace as the one player he would relish seeing in the red of Liverpool, if money wasn’t an object.

"I just think that Kevin De Bruyne is absolutely sensational," Carragher revealed on Sky Sports.

"I think in that right channel, maybe getting in the way of Trent [Alexander-Arnold] I don’t know! But I’d say Kevin De Bruyne is the first one that springs to mind.

"I think he’s one of the best players in the world. Certainly in the last two or three years he’s been the best midfield player in the world."

De Bruyne joined City from Wolfsburg for £55 million in 2015, a club record at the time.

During his time at the Etihad he’s clocked 287 appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring 74 goals and registering 111 assists.

In addition to the aforementioned hat-trick of titles; the 30-year-old has also won five League Cups, a solitary FA Cup and a Community Shield.
