Jake Paul responds to Daniel Dubois after Brit offers heavyweight title shot to YouTuber
Jake Paul has advised Daniel Dubois to 'get in line' following the heavyweight champion's offer for a title bout. Paul, who recently stepped up to heavyweight and fought boxing icon Mike Tyson in Dallas, emerged victorious by points decision after Tyson, returning to the ring after four years and fighting professionally for the first-time in almost two decades, held back his punches in a contest that garnered widespread criticism for its lack of competitiveness.
Post-fight, Paul found himself swamped with fight propositions including one from light-heavyweight king Artur Beterbiev, yet it was Dubois's call-out that caught media attention. The reigning heavyweight titlist, who secured his belt with a knockout of Anthony Joshua in September, reached out via Instagram: "Hi Jake," he wrote, "Good business on the weekend but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world. This is Daniel Dubois calling you out, let's get it on."
Paul initially dismissed Dubois succinctly with a terse "get in line" before elaborating, "Man been boxing for 12 years, has over 100 fights between amateur and pro and fought on my undercard...hahaha. But f*** it...I'm going to have Nakisa talk to Frankie Warren and get you in line for the throne. Unlike Artur, at least you have a few thousand fans."
Although Paul had previously competed at cruiserweight and added significant weight for the Tyson clash, a sanctioned match against Dubois is unlikely due to Paul's limited boxing record.
Meanwhile, Dubois is exploring options for his next fight as Anthony Joshua has opted not to pursue an immediate rematch.
