Erling Haaland's imminent arrival at the Etihad isn't quite the Manchester reunion Jadon Sancho had in mind.
Pep Guardiola's side have seemingly won the race for the Norwegian talisman after reaching a verbal agreement with Borussia Dortmund for his transfer.
A club statement read: " Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022. The transfer remains subject to the club finalising terms with the player."
Haaland is believed to have agreed a five-year contract that will see him earn £400,000 per week at City. The striker has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Manchester United but opted to move to the Etihad and reportedly struck personal terms with his new club in April.
United were hopeful they could persuade Haaland to link up with his former teammate and good pal Sancho who arrived at Old Trafford last summer. Haaland and Sancho formed a devastating partnership during their time at Signal Iduna Park.
The pair's relationship off the pitch was equally as fruitful and Haaland was gutted when Sancho joined United. Haaland wrote on Instagram at the time: "Good luck on your next journey bro. We had some good times together! Can't wait to see you
