Jadon Sancho has overcome challenges he told Ralf Rangnick about at Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick believes Jadon Sancho has completed his adaptation period at Manchester United after his high-profile transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho has started in eight of the last nine United matches since the January internationals, scoring three goals and assisting another three.

The 21-year-old deservedly received the club's player of the month award for February and, after a trying first six months at United, is excelling in the Premier League. Sancho is expected to be recalled to the England squad for their March friendlies with Switzerland and the Ivory Coast, with Gareth Southgate due to name his squad on Thursday.

Rangnick revealed upon his appointment by United he had attempted to recruit Sancho at RB Leipzig when he was the sporting director of the Red Bull Group and United had pursued Sancho for four years before they signed him from Dortmund for £72.9million in July.

"This is what he should be," Rangnick replied when it was suggested Sancho was exciting the United supporters. "They paid quite a few pounds for him in order to lure him away from Borussia Dortmund and if you pay that amount of money in a transfer fee for a player, he should perform on this kind of level.

"At the end, they are all human beings. The mere fact he cost a lot of money does not mean that he is playing at that level to start with. He told me that of course, it was a problem for him to get adjusted to the intensity of the league, to the physicality of the league. Now he has managed to do that. I'm happy to see him play at that kind of level right now.
