ITV Dancing on Ice fans respond to 'controversial' announcement amid complaints as they say 'show is over'

Dancing on Ice fans were quick to respond to a surprise announcement about the next episode while also issuing complaints about Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards' exit from the ITV show. The former Olympian was the latest contestant to be given the boot from the skating competition.

The latest skate-off on Sunday night (February 25) saw the former Olympic ski jumper, 60, face off against Love Island star Amber Davies, 27, who was also in the same position last week.

It came after Eddie opened the quarter-final show by embracing his inner pop star as he skated to One Direction’s hit What Makes You Beautiful. Dressed in a black and red checked shirt, the former Olympian performed a rotating knee slide and twirls with Ogden to secure a score of 33.5 – his highest of the series so far.

Meanwhile, reality star Amber secured a score of 38 during the episode after attempting the first one-arm rotating layout on the show. But it didn't stop the pair from receiving the fewest amount of votes and therefore had to skate again for their place in the competition.

After Eddie and his professional partner Vicky Ogden performed a graceful routine to Sir Elton John’s Rocket Man, and Amber and her partner Simon Senecal danced a dramatic performance to Little Mix’s Power, the judges cast their vote.

Judge Oti Mabuse voted to keep Eddie while Jayne Torvill and guest judge Johnny Weir voted for West End actress Amber. As the vote was split, it came down to head judge Christopher Dean, who opted to keep Amber as well, sending Eddie and partner Vicky packing.
