ITV Corrie star Millie Gibson ditches red carpet glam as she returns to filming on location after first big award win

Millie Gibson spent her weekend celebrating her first big award win but it was soon back to work for the young Coronation Street star. The actress, who has shot to fame in the role of Kelly Neelan, couldn't believe it when she took home a gong at the British Soap Awards on Saturday night.

The 17-year-old channelled Hollywood glamour in a silky white gown with plunging back detail as she hit the red carpet with her fellow soap stars for the glitzy event which returned for the first time after two years away due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Phillip Schofield hosted the soapy bash which was held live at the Hackney Empire and aired live on ITV. And as already mentioned, it was a big night for Millie took home the prize for Best Young Performer. It comes after the star, from Broadbottom, has had a busy time on the ITV soap.

She was part of the shocking hate crime storyline, inspired by the tragic story of goth Sophie Lancaster who was killed in 2007, which saw Kelly finding herself charged with a murder she didn't commit before being cleared, only to end up homeless. More recently, the character found out about her dad's death days before her mum, Laura Neelan played by Kel Allen, also died after taking the wrap for husband Rick's murder.

As she got on stage to collect her first major award, Millie said she had been 'unbelievably lucky' to have been given the 'most hard-hitting and compelling' storylines before adding she'll be 'forever honoured'. She went on to shout out her co-stars whom she worked closely with on the hate crime storyline and made sure not to forget her family.
