ITV Coronation Street's Imran Habeeb star quits after five years

Charlie De Melo has reportedly quit Coronation Street after five years.

The actor is best known to fans of the ITV soap for playing lawyer Imran Habeeb.

It comes amid theories from fans that Imran's one-night stand could be exposed and result in a love child.

Imran slept with grieving mother Abi Franklin following the end of her son Seb's murder trial last year.

The publication reports a source close to the soap actor said that while Charlie had "loved his time on the soap" he believes that now "the time is right to try new things."

They continued to say that Charlie will "cherish" the time he has spent in Corrie but he is "hugely talented and very ambitious and wants to see what else is out there."

Charlie is expected to film his final scenes in coming weeks, with the ending airing later in summer.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted Coronation Street for comment.

The news also comes after Corrie's executive producer teased what is to come for the character.

Speaking ahead of the New Year in December, Iain MacLeod told press: "Imran is forced to look in a mirror and consider himself and the man who he is. He could go to the dark side.

"It’s a big buried bomb just waiting for people to end up
