"It's pathetic" - Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson responds to criticism

Dean Henderson said that Nottingham Forest conceding seven goals from outside the box this season is "pathetic".

David de Gea reclaimed his status as Manchester United's first-choice goalkeeper last term and Henderson was desperate to leave the club for regular minutes, which led to Nottingham Forest signing him on a season-long deal,

Henderson's contract at United expires in 2025 and he could yet have a future at Old Trafford, but the goalkeeper has the challenge of helping Forest avoid relegation from the Premier League this season and that won't be straightforward.

Only Leicester (24) have conceded more goals in the Premier League than Forest (22) this term and Henderson has been on the receiving end of heavy defeats in recent weeks, which has caused his goalkeeping to be scrutinised.

After an impressive start to the season with strong individual performances, Henderson has conceded seven goals from outside the box and he's now responded to that statistic, explaining that it's a 'pathetic' record and something that needs to be addressed.

"It's probably avoidable," Henderson told Sky Sports. "Whether it's giving the ball away on the edge of the box, people turning their backs, the fundamentals of defending. Maybe I could have saved a couple of them, who knows

"Of course we're working on it and of course I take it personally, but I take it as my responsibility. I look at myself in the mirror every day and I'm like, how can I go from conceding next to none [goals outside of the box] in the last Premier League season I had, to seven in seven games.
