'It’s not fair' - Manager reveals why Aston Villa youngster isn't ready

Aston Villa have a plethora of options when analysing the talent bursting through their academy currently. One of which is the brother of current first team star Jacob Ramsey.

Aaron Ramsey impressed throughout pre-season and was a key figure in the under 21 sides that ran riot against several League One opponents.

Ramsey has now followed in his brother's footsteps as he has gone out on loan to prove his talents weekly against senior opponents.

The England youth international is yet to start a game for Cheltenham Town, but has made two substitute appearances. With his most recent coming in the 2-2 draw with AFC Wimbledon last night.

In 11 minutes of action Ramsey recorded 11 touches of the ball, a 75% pass accuracy, one long ball completed and one block. Four minutes after he entered the game, Wimbledon equalised in the 80th minute.

His manager, Michael Duff had this to say regarding the prospect of Ramsey starting in the near future. He stated: "I think AJ has a chance of playing in the Premier League, but there are other things he needs to learn.

"It’s not fair on him or the other players if I throw him in and he’s not quite sure what his jobs are.

"You only need one link in the chain to break and it falls down and that’s what happened on Tuesday, with two or three not quite doing it."

Cheltenham's next game is against Sunderland who sit third in the league currently with 54 points. They are, however, coming off a 6-0 loss to Bolton Wanderers, which consequently led to their manager Lee Johnson departing the club.
