'It's always funny' - Trent Alexander-Arnold explains his Liverpool FC goal celebration vs Man City

Trent Alexander-Arnold admitted he relished celebrating in front of the Manchester City fans after equalising for Liverpool in Saturday's Premier League draw.

The Reds' full-back levelled 10 minutes from time to earn his side a point after City went in front in the first half courtesy of Erling Haaland. Pep Guardiola's men remain a point clear of Liverpool in the table after an even contest at the Etihad.

Alexander-Arnold's goal came in front of the home supporters and he celebrated by putting a finger to his lips in front of the City faithful. After the game the England international said he enjoyed the moment.

"It’s always good to celebrate in front of the home fans as the away team, it’s always funny," he said. "But it was about getting the job over the line and getting that point.

"I saw an opportunity, I got the ball from Mo and I just thought I have to get it near the target, get it in there across goal and obviously it was a good finish into the bottom corner."

On the game and the result, Alexander-Arnold added: "I don’t think we’ve had too many good results against this lot here before so it’s a point and we’ll take it. It wasn’t an amazing performance from us at all, but we took our chances.

"I just don’t think we played particularly well to be honest, especially in the first half. Their formation and setup really challenged us and they had a lot of bodies in there which was difficult to deal with but we re-grouped at half time, came back out with more of a game plan and pressed them.
