'It's A Very Nice Project' - £50 Million-Rated Newcastle Target Drops Hint Ahead Of Potential Summer Move

​The Magpies splashed the cash to bring in new talent ahead of the second half of the season. 

They snapped up Chris Wood and Bruno Guimaraes​ as well as defensive reinforcements in Kieran Trippier, Dan Burns and Matt Targett.

But Eddie Howe missed out on one of his top defensive targets having failed to lure £50 million-rated Sven Botman to St James' Park last month.

However, the Lille defender has teased a possible transfer in the summer and described Newcastle's project as 'very nice', comparing it to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. 

"Everyone says about Newcastle - it's all about money," he told Ziggo Sport. 

"But it's a very nice project, if you look at where Man City and PSG started. I think it would be very nice to be part of that, but Milan is a beautiful club."

Botman added: "I'm fine at Lille for the time being.

"I assume that I will take a good step in my career next summer.

"You never know in football. This time both Newcastle and Milan were in very concrete talks.

"Both clubs have their positive points."

​The Dutch centre-back joined Lille from Heerenveen​ in 2020 and has made a name for himself as an exciting up-and-coming defender.
