"It's a bit short-sighted" - Insider drops big claim on Cristiano Ronaldo's Man United future

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo ‘has got a future’ at Old Trafford even though Erik ten Hag is set to become the Red Devils’ new manager, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Ronaldo sealed his return to the red half of Manchester on deadline day of last summer’s transfer window, but there have been question marks as to whether he will still be on the club’s books by the time next season gets underway.

Manchester United are set to be under new management heading into the 2022/23 campaign, with interim boss Ralf Rangnick moving into a consultancy role.

It is understood that ten Hag is on the brink of being appointed as the Red Devils’ new chief after the current Ajax head coach reached an agreement in principle.

But that could have a major impact on Ronaldo’s future despite bagging hat-tricks in the recent home wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City.

According to the Daily Star, ten Hag has given the green light for the attacker to move onto pastures new when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

The report suggests ten Hag has made it clear to Manchester United that the 186-cap Portugal international is not part of his plans as he does not suit his style of play.

Jones believes Ronaldo’s departure from Old Trafford, simply because of ten Hag’s impending arrival, is not a foregone conclusion.

The transfer insider feels the attacker’s recent form shows it would be a mistake for the Red Devils to sanction the 37-year-old’s exit.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I still think Ronaldo has got a future. I think that people have dismissed Cristiano Ronaldo just because ten Hag is coming in. It’s a bit short-sighted.
