Isthmian League round-up: Defeats for Dover Athletic and Folkestone Invicta but Sheppey United make it six wins out of six

A late winner meant Folkestone returned empty-handed from Chichester in Isthmian Premier on Saturday.

Good work by Amadou Kassarate set up Dan Smith to give Folkestone a first-half lead but Chichester levelled with 17 minutes left through Jimmy Wild before Isaac Bello netted in stoppage time.

George Nikaj’s first goal in four games was not enough for Dover, who were beaten 2-1 by Wingate & Finchley at Crabble.

Ayo Tanimowo cancelled out Nikaj’s opener before Ogo Obi scored what proved to be the winner on the hour mark.

Cray Valley lost 1-0 at Hendon, who went above them in the table. Dave Diedhiou scored the only goal while Cem Tumkaya was red-carded for the visitors on the hour mark.

Second-half goals from on-loan Gillingham youngster Harry Bridle and Danny Leonard ensured Sheppey made it six wins out of six at Phoenix Sports in Isthmian South East.

The Ites sit second, four points behind early leaders Beckenham who came from behind to win at Erith Town.

Jamarie Brissett put Becks ahead before Harry Taylor and a James Dyer spot-kick put the Dockers in charge at the break.

But Steven Townsend and Brissett’s second after the break turned the game again.

Deal put back-to-back defeats behind them to overcome Eastbourne Town 4-1 and move up to fifth.

Ash Miller and Tom Chapman put Deal 2-0 ahead at half-time before Rory Smith added a third. Nathan Hover pulled one back before substitute Morgan Page scored deep into stoppage time.

Hythe suffered a sixth defeat in eight league games despite leading through Riley Court at Steyning Town.

Two Alfie Rogers goals in the last 14 minutes ensured the hosts took maximum points.
