Israeli volunteers collect funds for bail bonds for Ukrainian refugees to protect them from deportation, - media

Israel's policy towards Ukrainian citizens, including the introduction of visas and high bail, has led to Israeli volunteers raising funds so that Ukrainian refugees can avoid deportation. This is stated in the publication «Details».

«On the evening of Friday, July 1, the border control detained him at the airport. Ben-Gurion to two children from the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi and their elderly grandmother. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs demanded a large deposit - 50 thousand shekels - fearing that the visitors could stay in Israel, and were preparing for their deportation, but Israeli volunteers managed to collect the necessary amount in literally 10 minutes. The children were able to reunite with their mother, who currently lives and works in Israel», - the message reads.

According to the publication, the mother of the children came to Israel to work legally for two years, but after the visa expired, she remained in the country, she is protected from deportation by the decision of the Israeli court while the war in Ukraine continues.

«Of course, she couldn't fly to Ukraine to see her children, they simply wouldn't let her back to Israel afterwards. The family decided to come to my mother for 2-3 months, they had permission to board the plane, obtained from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Israel. But the authorities demanded bail and wanted to deport the children and the old woman back to Romania, from where they flew to Israel», - the publication notes.
