Israel Adesanya still wants Jon Jones but doesn't need it for legacy

Israel Adesanya is still interested in fighting UFC GOAT Jon Jones after his win over Robert Whittaker.

But speaking to TMZ, where he also revealed he has received offers to star in Hollywood movies, Adesanya insisted he doesn’t need it to cement himself as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time as his legacy is already intact.

The UFC middleweight champion, also known by fans as ‘The Last Stylebender’, successfully defended his belt last time out in Houston against his Australian rival Bobby Knuckles.

Adesanya admits he is still keen to take on the man widely regarded as the best MMA fighter in the world.

But Izzy insists that he doesn’t need it for his legacy, he just likes the idea of a challenge.

Adesanya said: “I don’t need it, but I do want it.

“I don’t need it, though, that’s the thing. People think I need that for my legacy. Nah, I’m good where I’m at.

“I like light heavyweight. That’s where he was dominant, so I really want it to be at light heavyweight. He put my name in his mouth first.

“He was a fan and then he realized there’s an opportunity there. You’re supposed to be the GOAT, and you want to fight me? That shows me you think I’m a threat.

“F*** this c***. But hey, he needs to find himself first. Fight his demons, that’s the main thing he needs to be fighting.

“Go back to church. Philippians 3:16 (4:13) or whatever it was. Go back to church.”

Adesanya previously expressed interest in fighting Jones during an interview with MMA Fighting last year.
