Irish Olympian Leon Reid given suspended sentence
Leon Reid, a sprinter who represented Ireland at the Tokyo Games, has been given a suspended sentence after being found guilty of allowing his flat to be used to produce crack cocaine.
In April 2021 the 27-year-old was charged with conspiracy to supply class A (cocaine), permitting premises to be used in the production of class A (crack cocaine), concealing criminal property, and acquiring criminal property.
On Friday he was sentenced to 21 months, suspended for 18 months, and 220 hours unpaid work for allowing his flat to be used to produce cocaine and for receiving payment.
Reid transferred to represent Ireland in 2018 and that year won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in the 200m when running for Northern Ireland.
He competed for Ireland in the 200m at the Olympics last summer, finishing seventh in his semi-final.
