Iris, 82, and toyboy husband Mohamed, 36, hit out at social media 'lies' and 'jealous people'

The pensioner who made headlines after falling in love with an Egyptian toyboy has hit back at trolls who claimed the newlyweds had split up. Iris Jones, 82, said the 'misguided intruders tell lies because they lead miserable lives' in an online appearance with her 36-year-old husband, Mohamed Ahmed Ibriham, by her side.

The married couple spent time apart last month because Mohamed had to return home to Cairo to look after his sick father. However they say people questioned if the pair had separated for good.

Hitting back at negative commenters, Mohamed, who swept the British grandma off her feet when they met in 2019 through a Facebook page for atheists, told them to 'get a life and go to hell.' Taking a stand together to set the record straight, the couple filmed themselves for a YouTube video, titled 'This is our response to cowardly intruders'.

Despite the odds, the unconventional couple with a 46-year age gap is still going strong three years on. They tied the knot in 2020 and Mohamed eventually moved into Iris' home in Somerset after he was granted a three-year visa.

With Iris sitting on her hubby's lap, Mohamed said to the camera: "They say we are separated, we are divorced because I go to Egypt last month. They say that in media, and social media... what do you answer...?"

Iris responded: "Well, they're very misguided, they don't know their a*se from their elbow, they just tell lies because they've got nothing else to report, they lead sad, miserable lives, and they deserve our sympathy."
