Ireland's Oisin Logan and South African Savannah Ingledew win as Hythe Cricket and Squash Club host prestigious competition

Two hard-fought finals provided plenty of entertainment as Hythe Cricket and Squash Club hosted an event which is part of the annual satellite tour promoted by the World Squash Federation and Professional Squash Association.

The men’s final saw Irish No.3 seed Oisin Logan beat Kenyan Muqtadir Nimji 13-11, 11-7, 12-10, with Nimji suffering from fatigue after a long semi-final.

That came after South African junior Savannah Ingledew came out on top in the ladies’ showdown, defeating top England under-19 player Amelie Haworth 9-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-3, 11-9.

The men’s semi-finals had seen Logan beat England’s Michael Andrews in straight games while English player Will Salter lost to Nimji after five games.

In the ladies’ event, No.1 seeded Dutch player Juliette Permentier lost in straight games to Haworth in her semi-final, as English player Isabel McCullough narrowly lost out to Ingledew.

The event this month was open to professional players from around the world who were looking for ranking points.

It was the second time such a tournament has recently been played at Hythe Cricket and Squash Club and was facilitated by sponsorship from AW Construction Services Limited.

Their managing director Tom Locke, a keen squash player, was delighted to work with the PSA to allow the event to be brought to Hythe.
