Inter have personality needed to win Milan derby, says Inzaghi

Inter Milan have the right attitude to win the Milan derby in Serie A on Saturday, coach Simone Inzaghi has said, with individual duels crucial to the outcome.

With three wins and a loss, third-placed Inter will start the first derby of the season with one point more than champions Milan, who are sixth after two wins and two draws.

"(The derby) must be played with a great personality, and my team has it," Inzaghi told a news conference on Friday.

"The individual duels, that will be many, may be decisive.

Inter, who dropped their first points in a 3-1 defeat at Lazio last Friday, were aware things needed to improve and showed that in the 3-1 midweek victory at home to Cremonese.

"When you concede goals you must not only look at what the defenders did, but the whole team," Inzaghi said.

"Against Cremonese it was an important (win) because we were coming from those three days in which there was too much talk (over the loss in Rome) in my opinion. I wanted a reaction from the team and there was one."

Striker Romelu Lukaku is sidelined with a thigh injury and defender Alessandro Bastoni is also a doubt for the derby.

"We hope Romelu will be back before the international break. Time is needed, but the medical staff are working to get him back as soon as possible," Inzaghi said.

"Bastoni wasn't 100 per cent fit before the game against Cremonese, but he made himself available to play. He'll return to group training today.

"I will have to make a decision, as I will have to decide on the attack partner for Lautaro (Martinez) ... Joaquin Correa did really well (against Cremonese) and scored, while (forward Edin) Dzeko did some brilliant work."
