Inspired by Molly McCann, Chris Billam-Smith will be looking for the knockout against Isaac Chamberlain

British boxing star Chris Billam-Smith is hoping to do one better than his childhood friend Molly McCann who produced a KO of the Year against Hannah Goldy at UFC London last weekend.

The Bournemouth brawler last fought in April where he pulled off an emphatic victory over Tommy McCarthy.

Billam-Smith will now face Isaac Chamberlain at the Bournemouth International Centre after signing a one-fight deal with BOXXER and Sky Sports having parted ways with Matchroom earlier this year.

The English boxer – who is also known as ‘The Gentleman’ – trains at Shane McGuigan’s gym in Leyton – which is also home to current WBO world champion Lawrence Okolie.

In an exclusive interview with GiveMeSport.com, he said: “I hope so. Unfortunately I haven’t got a hellbow in me! Her elbows are phenomenal.

“But I’m so happy for Mol. The first boxing session I ever went to, she was obviously taking it, and I know the graft that she’s put in and I know what it takes to get here and it’s great to see her doing so well.

“If the opportunity presents itself then I’ll take it of course but Isaac is certainly no pushover so I think fans can expect fireworks for sure.

“We’re both in our prime, we’re both going to bring it, and we’re both chasing the same dream.”

The pair have kept things cordial in the build up, which is something that Billam-Smith enjoys.

He added: “Yeah, you know, I like that. It’s nice.

“Most people I fight are very respectful, sometimes not to camera.

“But Isaac and I both know we’re both after the same thing, we’ve both become fathers in the last eight months or so, and we’re both just all about fighting.
