Meanwhile, 22-year-old Ben Johnson has become an important part of the Hammers team this season, after starting 14 out of the 16 top-flight games he has appeared in.

Due to his impressive performances and encouraging development, he has not only been touted for an England call-up, but also a potential transfer to a side in the top six, with Spanish reports via TEAMtalk previously reporting that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham were all interested.

However, the East-London club remain keen on tying down the versatile full-back, who has filled in all the way across the backline throughout this campaign, and indeed further up the pitch in wing-back roles when called upon.

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Johnson will remain at West Ham next season, much to the delight of supporters who have really got behind and taken to the Rush Green star this season.

“I don’t think there’s any chance that he leaves in the summer,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

“I think that he’s happy where he is and that extension just cements the fact that he is part of their plans.

“Extending his contract buys everybody a little time to figure out exactly how they move forward.”

Earlier this season, The Athletic reported that the defender snubbed a new six-year-deal at the London Stadium, which sparked speculation about his future at the club, but according to Jones, the Hammers will return to the negotiating table at the early stages of next year, with Johnson’s contract not expiring until 2024.
