Inside the new luxury hotel making its mark on Manchester's skyline

Another huge new luxury hotel has opened its doors in Manchester, making its own mark on the ever-changing city skyline.

The vast red brick Maldron Hotel is part of the burgeoning developments on Charles Street off Oxford Road, and boasts an unusual "stepped" design.

Greenery is being grow on each of the "steps" of the building, as well as on the rooftop itself, while inside there are 278 bedrooms spread across 15 floors of the new-build hotel.

It is only the second Maldron Hotel in England, after launching in Newcastle city centre last year, but there are big plans to expand the brand across the UK, with a second Maldron already being developed on Chapel Street in Salford.

So what can guests expect? Well, the Maldron is a 4-star hotel boasting a playful design, with the emphasis very much on leisure stays and groups of revellers like stag and hen dos.

There's a large public bar and restaurant space on the ground floor, boasting quirky artworks and colourful seating, as well as its own coffee shop, the Red Bean Roastery, where locals and guests can drop by for fresh roasted cuppas.

The Grain and Grill restaurant boasts all day-dining, while the hotel breakfast will have a healthy focus, with the promise of "lots of fresh fruits and gluten-free options" - and toast machines will even be dedicated specifically to different types of bread like white, brown and gluten-free.

The hotel is sister venue to the Clayton Hotel group, which in January opened its first city centre hotel at a huge site on Portland Street becoming the third biggest hotel in Manchester with 329 bedrooms.
