Inside Man Utd's multi-million training ground revamp as club seek player input

Manchester United are ready to invest in Carrington as they aim to bolster the facilities at their training ground.

The club's infrastructure has come in for criticism in recent years but the Premier League giants are ready to pour millions into a redevelopment. Last year, club chiefs lodged planning permission for the new facilities which included offices, gym, catering area, and an overspill car park.

Now the current squad are being consulted on the latest additions that are set to include additional rooms for the players to relax, reports The Sun. Quiet zones, that will be used before and after training, are on the wish list for United's players as is a wellness area.

This would allow individuals to enjoy activities like yoga and reading. United have hired Mags Mernagh as the Programme Director for Carrington Development - she was one of the brains behind Leicester City's recent training ground investment, which is now seen as one of the finest in Europe.

It has also helped the Foxes become a regular player in the European race, even if they have fallen away this term. Last year United had put in planning permission for an all-seater stadium at Carrington as well as new floodlights. Further to that they are hoping to make more additions.

They are eyeing improved-access footpaths, pitch-side toilets, an electricity sub-station and new fencing along the east side of the Carrington training base. United have been challenged recently to ensure their facilities are on par with their Premier League rivals.

Liverpool recently left Melwood and moved to Kirby, where they now operate at the AXA Training Centre. Tottenham's Enfield base is also well thought of whilst Manchester City have built an impressive structure
