Inquest into death of woman who ran into the street on fire delayed AGAIN - as mum travels thousands of miles

A senior prosecutor was forced to apologise after a mum travelled thousands of miles for her daughter's inquest - to be left waiting for answers again. Nosheen Akhtar, also known as Sarah Hussain, died aged 31 after suffering severe burns at her home in Bury.

An inquest into her death was previously adjourned so Greater Manchester Police could hand over evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for review. Proceedings were due to resume at Rochdale Coroners' Court this morning (November 1), with Ms Akhtar's family expecting a conclusion from assistant coroner Lisa Judge before the weekend.

But events took another dramatic twist as it emerged the CPS had not reviewed all of the evidence available, meaning the inquest had to be adjourned again - and a wasted journey for Ms Akhtar's mum, Zaheera Bibi, who lives in Pakistan. "I've called for a proper review," said Ms Judge.

"I understood that review had been conducted, which was why I had everybody brought here today, but now I discover it has not been done. The tone of my voice will no doubt indicate how upset and concerned I am by these actions because I understood today I was recommencing this inquest, to finalise this 830 days after Sarah died."

Ms Akhtar's inquest was dramatically adjourned after six days of evidence in February, when Ms Judge asked for the audio on police body-cam footage to be enhanced. Proceedings resumed on July 17, when Ms Judge confirmed she had received the footage, and she adjourned the inquest again so the
