'Innovative' new Australian-style sushi bar to open first UK site at Trafford Centre

The Trafford Centre is set to see a new addition to its ranks of cultured cuisines, with food lovers being introduced to Australian-style Sushi as part of a UK first.

Manchester guests will be the first to get a taste of Down Under, with new sushi hand-roll concept Rolled launching in the UK. The exciting new Australian eatery will debut at the Orient Hall in the Trafford Centre next Friday (August 16), as part of its first ever UK site.

The new brand hoping to capture the hearts of the ever-growing sushi love affair, which was further exampled earlier this week with the news that a new Itsu site - its third in the North and second in Greater Manchester - will also be opening at the Trafford Centre this Autumn.

Asian food hall faves Hello Oriental, which first opened in Manchester City Centre in 2022, will also unveil its new site in October at the shopping centre's Orient.

The hand rolled format was invented in Melbourne in the late 1990’s, eventually becoming the norm in the early 2000’s. Taking inspiration from the original Japanese style, the 'new sushi' became familiar amongst Aussie families, taking centre stage on menus and in every day life appearing everywhere in the country.

The hand-held style offers foodies the ability to combine a delicious blend of traditional Japanese technique with the creative new idea from Australia. Founder of Rolled, Adam Miller, said of the concept: “Aussies are obsessed with this type of sushi.

“It’s not unusual to consume hand-rolls multiple times a week, so I’m excited to introduce it to Manchester where I believe it will be just as popular."
