Inmate 'stabbed in the face' at Forest Bank prison

An inmate at Salford's troubled Forest Bank prison has been treated after being 'stabbed in the face'. The drama is said to have happened on a wing following a confrontation between two inmates on Thursday night (April 11).

The prisoner suffered only 'superficial facial injuries' and did not require transfer to hospital, according to bosses at the privately-run jail.

Following a series of revelations by the Manchester Evening News, the government is under pressure to cancel a billion pound contract it has with facilities management giant Sodexo to run the jail. It runs out in January.
