Injured Kilcoyne to miss rest of Munster's season and NZ tour

Munster and Ireland prop Dave Kilcoyne will undergo neck surgery this week, ruling him out for the rest of the season, including Ireland's tour of New Zealand.

Kilcoyne will be out for 12 weeks, which will see him miss Munster's Champions Cup quarter-final against Toulouse, as well as the play-offs for the inaugural United Rugby Championship.

The first Test of Ireland's tour of New Zealand takes place on 2 July in Auckland, which will also come too soon for the 33-year-old front row forward.

Munster are preparing for their final regular season home game of URC season against Cardiff at Musgrave Park this Friday.

John Hodnett is awaiting a specialist opinion on the knee injury he suffered against Ulster on Friday night, while Chris Cloete was removed with a neck and head injury in the win over Ulster and will undergo the return to play protocols.

Meanwhile Peter O'Mahony has returned to full training.
