IndyCar: Colton Herta coy on speculation linking him to AlphaTauri

Colton Herta says that he does not want to talk about speculation linking him with AlphaTauri at the moment.

The American is one of the rising stars over in IndyCar and has been linked with a switch to F1 already this season.

Indeed, with the sport growing greatly in terms of interest and popularity, it might make sense from a commercial point of view to get an American driver on the grid, though they of course need to be good enough as well.

Herta does have the talent to transfer to F1 and potentially shine, though, and he has been linked to AlphaTauri on the back of that.

With Pierre Gasly heavily linked to the Alpine seat, a position would open up with the Faenza team and, whilst Mick Schumacher is another name who has been potentially put in the frame, Herta is also in the conversation.

Asking him about it, though, seems a pretty thankless task at the moment with him saying he does not want to discuss it:

Herta told the Wichita Eagle: “There’s nothing I want to talk about right now. My father does my management and I told him I don’t want to talk about it.”

Time will ultimately tell if we see Herta in the F1 paddock next year on the grid, as there are several rumours about different drivers doing the rounds right now.

He’s a talented driver, though, and so firmly deserves to be in the conversation about joining the F1 circus.
