'Inclusive' medals revealed for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games prize medal was revealed on Wednesday, featuring a world-first inclusive design inspired by Glasgow's iconic landmarks and coat of arms.
For the first time in Games' history, the medal includes braille and tactile elements, which organizers say ensures that inclusion is a tangible and felt experience.
The medals, unveiled at the Glasgow School of Art, were designed by award-winning artist, designer and maker Militsa Milenkova. The Glasgow 2026 medal takes the form of a Reuleaux triangle, a distinctive geometric shape that sets it apart from any Commonwealth Games prize medal seen before.
The design draws inspiration from Glasgow's coat of arms and landscape with industrial heritage and cultural traditions that define the city's identity all woven into its structural detailing.
There will be 215 gold medals awarded across the 10 sports and six Para sports when the Commonwealth Games return to Glasgow from July 23 through Aug. 2.
There will be 47 gold medals awarded in Para sports in Glasgow, making it the largest Para sport programme in Commonwealth Games history.
