Iga Swiatek sweeps past Sara Sorribes Tormo to reach third round at Wimbledon, Maria Sakkari loses

Iga Swiatek eased into the third round at Wimbledon with a convincing win over Sara Sorribes Tormo. The four-time Grand Slam champion was far too strong for the world No. 84 as she won 6-2 6-0 in 69 minutes.

Ad Swiatek will next play 30th seed Petra Martic or Diane Parry as she bids to reach the fourth round for a second time. Although Swiatek missed her first break point when she netted, she took the next as Sorribes Tormo hit into the net. The advantage didn’t last long as an attacking slice from Sorribes Tormo earned her a break-back chance, which she took when the world No. 1 hit long.

But Swiatek ripped a cross-court forehand to make it 15-40 next game and secured a 3-1 lead after a Sorribes Tormo unforced error.
