It's not unusual for a player to get choked up amidst the celebrations of a final victory - although Ibrahima Konate got more than he bargained for after Liverpool lifted the Carabao Cup on Sunday.

The Reds defender came off the bench for extra time in the Wembley showdown before cooly dispatching his penalty in a thrilling shootout, which culminated with Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga blazing his spot kick over the crossbar.

The result saw Konate collect his first piece of silverware for Liverpool since joining the club in the summer, as well as hand Jurgen Klopp his first domestic cup in the Reds' hotseat.

Liverpool last won the League Cup back in 2012 and it was the club's first major honour since being crowned Premier League champions in 2020 as thoughts now turn to the prospect of a potential quadruple.

But whilst the Reds largely kept a lid on their celebrations, Konate almost came a cropper at the hands of an enthusiastic piece of confetti.
