Ian Burchnall provides Notts County squad update ahead of Torquay United trip

Notts County boss Ian Burchnall has provided an injury update ahead of his team's trip to Torquay United tomorrow (Saturday).

Defenders Kyle Cameron and Richard Brindley will be the only two absentees for the clash, with Cal Roberts, Kairo Mitchell, Joel Taylor and Ed Francis all in contention to return to the side.

Torquay are 11 points behind Notts in 11th, though Burchnall recognises it will be a tough game for his side. It is one they are ready for, though, with the squad in good shape after some difficult times earlier in the season.

"Just Kyle Cameron and Richard Brindley still working back from injury," Burchnall said in his pre-match press conference. "Brinds has had his op. He has a cast on at the minute so he's just doing some fitness work, he can't do too much with a football.

"Kyle Cameron was out on the pitch today building it up and we'll scan him again in a couple of weeks and check where he's at.

"Cal, Kairo, Joel and Ed are all in contention to come back in. All are training well. It's really competitive at the moment. We've won three of the last four, the squad are doing great, there's lots of competition and that's exactly how we want it.

"We need good players on the bench, we need good players that maybe don't even make the bench, and then them to have the bit between their teeth and say 'I'm going to train hard and force my way back in'. And that's the same for every player. That's the situation that we want. There is healthy competition in there and I think it's a great position to be in."
