'I was told' - Journo reveals big news on 'unstoppable' NUFC target; Edwards says 'keep an eye'

Bundesliga journalist Stefan Bienkowski has revealed some big news with regards to Newcastle United and Moussa Diaby.

It has been widely reported that the St. James’ Park faithful want to sign Diaby this summer, after an outstanding season at Bayer Leverkusen.

The France international scored no fewer than 17 goals and made a further 14 assists in total over all competitions, mainly operating from the wings (Transfermarkt), and is sure to attract a lot of interest this summer as his market value has skyrocketed to £49.5m.

The Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards recently informed his Magpies following to ‘keep an eye‘ on Diaby, as they ponder whether to make a move.

Responding to his message, Bienkowski revealed that Diaby’s chances of leaving Leverkusen depend on whether the North East club, or another English side, come calling:

“I was told that the chances of Diaby leaving Leverkusen this summer was “50/50” and probably depended on whether an English team with deep pockets – like Newcastle – came calling.”

Replying to a supporter’s enquiry, he then claimed that it could take more than €50m (£42.5m) to sign him.

Given the campaign that he has had, Diaby is sure to have a number of top clubs in Europe chasing him this summer, and so the Tyneside outfit need to get this deal done as soon as possible.

He has been praised by German media for his ‘amazing’ dribbling, ‘irresistible’ pace and ‘astonishing’ speed of thought this term, even dubbed ‘unstoppable’ after scoring one goal and setting up another in a crushing 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach (Bundesliga).

He is still only 22 years of age, and so his potential is quite frankly frightening.
