'I was at home watching Love Island when I was almost killed'

Priya Sidana was at home watching Love Island with her family when her heart suddenly stopped beating.

The 53-year-old collapsed just an hour after she felt so hot she had to lie on her cold kitchen tiles to cool down.

Then, to the horror of her devastated family, Priya went on to suffer a “massive cardiac arrest”. She now believes she actually 'died' before paramedics managed to revive her.

Priya's husband Ajay, 56, performed CPR on her just before paramedics arrived. But when the ambulance crew arrived the prognosis looked bleak.

“I wasn't coming around when they did the electric shocks,” she said. “Then the paramedic gave me a third shock and there was a tiny bit of life.

Priya became emotional as she recalled what one emergency worker said to her family. “They put me on a stretcher and took me out of the house,” she added.

“They turned around to my husband and daughter and said, ’We don't think she's going to make it.’”

Priya, who lives in Bowdon, near Altrincham, was then rushed to hospital where she remained for 10 days.

As part of her recovery, she had a stent fitted, a short, wire mesh tube that acts like a scaffold to help keep an artery open.

Still regaining her mental and physical strength every day, Priya hasn’t yet returned to her job as a customer services advisor for NatWest.

Recalling the night she almost lost her life, the mum-of-two said: “It was the hottest day of the year and I was at home watching Love Island with my daughter when I had a massive cardiac arrest.

“My husband came in and started CPR – he had no training and had never done it before in his life, but he was helped by my daughter
