'I've worn the same £21 perfume since it launched 30 years ago - people are still bowled over by the smell'

White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor has previously been hailed as the world's bestselling celebrity perfume and it's not hard to see why. Launched in 1991 and the second scent in the British-American actresses' fragrance empire, White Diamonds became an immediate success with women still reaching for it today, over three decades later.

Elizabeth Taylor wasn't the first celebrity to release a perfume, Sofia Loren released her eponymous scent back in 1981, but she did help popularise the trend of celebrity-branded perfumes. White Diamonds, which quickly overshadowed the release of Taylor's first fragrance, Passion, was created by Carlos Benaim, the nose behind popular Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera and Elizabeth Arden perfumes, and was inducted into the Fragrance Foundation's Hall of Fame in 2009.

Described a sheer floral fragrance, the beloved perfume features a harmony of flowers and aldehydes in the top notes, together with the sharp base, giving the fragrance an elegant vintage nuance. The heart unites the classical trio, violet, rose and jasmine, accompanied by ylang-ylang, Egyptian tuberose and narcissus. The base is composed of oak moss, patchouli, musk, sandalwood and amber.
