Sharing her tip on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, a woman displayed one of the large Smarties tubes that are a common sight during the festive season and disclosed that the diameter of the tube is the perfect size for a £2 coin. One tube can hold a total of 83 coins, which means that if you deposit all your £2 coins into the tube over the course of the year, you'll have amassed £166 by the time it's full – ideally just in time for next Christmas.

Alongside pictures demonstrating the technique, she took to Facebook to share: "You may all know about this, but I thought I'd share after I saw the envelope trick. If you have any of these tubes at home, basically you can just save £2 coins in them over the year and when it's full you'll have £166 towards Christmas."
