I think Manchester United should revisit £70m transfer - he can make a huge impact

Manchester United should revive their interest in PSG playmaker Xavi Simons next summer as he has the character and the ability to succeed at Old Trafford.

That is the view of former United forward Louis Saha, who believes Simons' creative talents and ability in transition make him a perfect signing for the club.

United were credited with an interest in Simons over the summer but PSG were demanding £70million to part with the Dutch international permanently after an impressive EURO 2024 campaign.

Simons ended up re-joining RB Leipzig on loan but there is uncertainty over where his long term future will lie after another season in the Bundesliga.

The 21-year-old is under contract until 2027 in Paris but Saha feels United should test their resolve and is confident he would fare better than another former Bundesliga star, Jadon Sancho, in the Premier League.

"I think Manchester United should target Xavi Simons, I really like him and he’s the sort of player that could have a huge impact at the club," Saha told Casino Hawks.

"He showed up during Euro 2024 and I think he provides a great option in transition in midfield as well as creating chances for his team-mates.

"There aren’t many players in that bracket, Dani Olmo at Barcelona is another one. I definitely think Simons has the capacity to be a success if he did end up at United.

"He’s very hard to defend against because he’s always on the move, United still need legs in midfield and more creativity and unpredictability.
