I saw Ruben Amorim's Marcus Rashford comments and loved it - Man United fans will appreciate honesty

Ruben Amorim may have only been in charge of Manchester United for a little over two months, but he has already shown he isn't afraid of speaking with unabashed honesty in his post match press conferences.

Amorim was all over the back pages last weekend when he suggested this United team may be the worst in the club's history. Despite a 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday evening, he once again captured the headlines when asked about Marcus Rashford's continued absence from the squad.

Asked why Rashford was not involved at Craven Cottage, Amorim said: "It’s the same, it’s always the same reason. The reason is the training, the way I see what footballers should do in training, in life, it’s every day, every detail.

"So, if things don’t change, I will not change. It’s the same situation for every player. If you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player.

"And you can see it today on the bench, we miss a little bit of pace to go and change the game, move some pieces. But I prefer it like that. I will put (Jorge) Vital on before I put a player on that doesn’t give the maximum every day. So, I will not change in that department."

Vital is United's 63-year-old goalkeeping coach. It was a damning indictment of Rashford, who the Manchester Evening News revealed last week is doing double training sessions amid his squad exile and remains available and willing to play for the club.

That is despite the England international outlining his desire to pursue a new challenge last month, and with the likes of AC Milan, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Como and Besiktas being linked with a move for the 27-year-old this month.

Amorim hasn't been afraid to ruffle feathers and has fiercely stuck to the system and principles
