'I refuse to pay £80 on Vinted for a Jellycat toy – this £5 alternative is better'

Jellycats have risen in popularity in recent years, and as a result, so have their price tags on resale websites.

According to Lisa Angel, Jellycats have become so loved as the company "uses the most luxurious, tactile fabrics to create charming plushies with sensory elements, making them ideal for children." They are "collected and treasured by both kids and adults, many of their core range toys are iconic and recognised worldwide".

Jellycats sell out fast at major retailers, and therefore, an influx of cute plushies end up on resale websites such as Vinted. Sadly, however, this often means they come with a massively inflated price, with resellers claiming they're 'retired', which means they're not returning on any official websites.

TikToker @kellyleanne3 took to the social media platform to caption her video: "Wanted the toilet roll for ages now but I'm not paying scammers on Vinted £80 for him" – with some people even charging as much as £99.

She was referring to the adorable Jellycat toilet roll plushie, complete with eyes and a smile, and feet to hang over the edge of the surface you place him on. It also has a loose piece of 'toilet paper' ready to pull and would look perfect as a decoration in any bathroom.

But the adorable toy comes at a seriously hefty price tag, and if the thought of spending over double on the toy fills you with dread, you may want to look for other alternatives – like much cheaper alternatives.

Kelly said she didn't want to pay £80 for the Jellycat for it to just "sit in the dirty bathroom," as she knew that's where she wanted to put the toilet paper teddy.
