'I nearly vomited because of a Tesco sign - the design team should be ashamed'

A teacher who almost vomited outside a Tesco says the sign design team should be ashamed. The woman was visiting her local Tesco when she was met with a welcome sign which, she says, made her sick to the stomach.

The teacher is now demanding that Tesco makes a change to the sign. Jo Harbrd claims she almost vomited after seeing the grammatical error during her weekly food shop.

The store, in Hastings, East Sussex, has a misplaced apostrophe in the town's name. The poster reads: "Serving Hasting's shoppers a little better every day."

It should have read “Hastings’.” Livid Jo said: "Please rectify this punctuation issue in your Hastings Extra store.

"Your sign design team should be embarrassed. It nearly made this teacher vomit. The apostrophe should be after the 's'. They have just renamed the town Hasting."

Other locals didn't seem as fussed with the grammatical error. Hayley Gabriella Pound said: "B*oody hell you must have an easy life."

Hollie Garrett said: "Imagine caring." Kirsty Louise said: "The people of Hastings didn’t fight in 1066 to have to put up with this s*it."

Lesley Balmer said: "Meanwhile, in Ukraine..." Kathryn George said: "Vomit how pathetic."

Jo said Tesco replied saying: “Thanks for getting in touch and I'm sorry for the delay. I'm sorry to learn about the error on our sign and I appreciate that you have made us aware.

“I have ensured to raise this with the stores management team to have a look at the sign and see to having this corrected.” Tesco has been contacted for comment.
