'I'm well aware' - Seamus Coleman makes Everton interview admission

Seamus Coleman knows Evertonians want results, not platitudes.

The Toffees slumped to another loss in the Premier League on Tuesday night at Newcastle United, as they were on the end of a dismal 3-1 reverse.

The defeat continued Everton's torrid run - they have taken six points from a possible 45 available in the Premier League - and intensified simmering fears over a relegation battle in the second half of the campaign.

Everton face Leeds United in a crucial encounter at Goodison Park on Saturday, with new manager Frank Lampard set to sample his home stadium in the Premier League for the first time.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Coleman commented on his obligation to fulfil media duties, but said he was well aware the Everton faithful didn't want any more hollow words from the players.

"Listen, confidence was on the floor for a while there," said the veteran full-back. "But I believe we've got the right group to get out of it.

"I've got to come on here and do the talking to you and do the interviews to you, but I'm well aware that the Evertonians want to see actions on the pitch. That's the only way you're going to get results and that's the only way you're going to get an atmosphere.

"That's what we've got to look to do, but the lads are right up for it. We're training well and we believe we can come good."

Coleman also spoke about what Lampard has brought to the club since his arrival, referencing his proactivity on the training pitch.

"He's been great," he said. "He's come in with a real hunger and desire to do well.

"His playing history speaks for itself and he's got that respect. But what he does on the training ground as well, he's out on the front foot out there and making sure we're at it every day and keeping on
