'I'm told...' - TalkSPORT reporter reveals Leeds chiefs are 'admirers' of English boss

The American head coach was appointed by Leeds officials at the end of February after a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur saw Marcelo Bielsa sacked and a fifth defeat in six games left Leeds just two points above the relegation zone.

However, after an initial bounce, the 48-year-old had failed to take the Yorkshire club to safety as they found themselves in a precarious position before putting on an inspired final day display.

With fans still clamouring for Bielsa, Marsch was always going to face an uphill task but he may now have saved himself a potential sacking as it would surely be extremely harsh of Andrea Radrizzani to now relieve him of his duties.

This was something that Alex Crook mentioned ahead of the game as he namedropped a potential replacement.

Speaking on the talkSPORT GameDay podcast he said:

(43:11) “You know, just a quick one though, if that does happen, and Jesse Marsh is relieved of his duties keep an eye on Lee Bowyer. Former Leeds (player?), I’m told he’s got a lot of admirers in the Board room at Elland Road.”

Having played 254 times for the Elland Road club, the 45-year-old could be in line for a return this time to the dugout but Marsch had already said that he would stay at the club even if they had been relegated to the Championship.

Of course, the Whites can now start planning for life in the Premier League next season so a change now looks extremely unlikely, but weirder things have happened in football.

Regardless, it’s rather strange to see that the Whites are such admirers of a manager who hasn’t exactly pulled up trees in the managerial game so far.
