'I’m told' - David Ornstein reveals late twist at Spurs

David Ornstein has been speaking on The Athletic’s YouTube channel about the situation surrounding Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli.

It had been reported last week by Football.london that Alli was interesting a handful of Premier League clubs, but now it looks like the midfielder could be heading to the continent.

Alli has not been the same player that burst on the scene at Tottenham back in 2015 for the last few seasons and much like fellow England international Jesse Lingard did last season, a loan move may well reignite his career.

Ornstein has revealed that La Liga outfit Valencia are looking to land Alli.

(46:23) “Dele Alli has some interest now, which hasn’t been the case throughout the window, I’m told and I’ve revealed in my Monday column that Valencia are looking into a possible move for him on loan before the window shuts.

“Their financial situation is extremely complicated so some people have said to me this morning, there’s just no chance of that happening, but they’re considering it.”

The midfielder may well see moving abroad as a way to completely reset and find the spark which has clearly been missing for the last few seasons as his attacking numbers have been on a downward spiral especially over the last few seasons.

It appears that a move away will be very important for Alli given that Rodrigo Bentancur is set to join Tottenham and would add yet more competition for the English midfielder so if Alli has any aspirations of getting back to top form and also back into the England squad, he needs to move.
