'I'm no sangoma that can tell you the score' - Benni is ready for CAF's North v South battle

AmaZulu's inaugural CAF Champions League campaign has been challenging for Benni McCarthy, but the passionate mentor is far from raising his white flag.

He will again be in the technical area at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday evening, attempting to steer his charges to victory against ES Setif.

McCarthy suffered an away 1-0 defeat to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca on matchday one of his African debut.

However, a home leg clash against Horoya turned the tide in their favour as Usuthu clawed their way to a 1-0 win in Durban.

McCarthy, who spoke to the media on Thursday, is well aware of the difficulties ahead, but he remains steadfast and confident in their quest to advance to the knockout stages.

"Tomorrow awaits another difficult, complicated match for us. Knowing that our opponents' (domestic) matches was postponed so that they can focus and concentrate and be prepared for this encounter," McCarthy said.

"But we, on the other hand, played on Tuesday. That disturbs our preparation a little bit. We just have to deal with it. It is what it is. It has not been the best preparation for us, but mentally we are prepared to know what is expected from us. 

"It's going to be a war. It's Southern Africa against North Africans. This is our home, and we'll protect it as much as we can. We're looking forward to it."

As always, McCarthy's glowing personality began to shine through as the press conference continued.

The 44-year-old revealed that they had analysed their opponents throughout the week. But does not want to dwell on predicting any scoreline despite his confidence in his team's ability.
