Manchester City record goalscorer Sergio Aguero has no doubts that incoming Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush will be a success, backing the prolific forward to forge a successful partnership with Erling Haaland.

Marmoush has 20 goals and 14 assists from 26 games this season, earning his £63m move to the Etihad where he will offer both support and competition to Haaland as well as the Blues' other forwards and attacking midfielders.

Aguero scored 260 goals for City, mostly as a sole striker, and when Pep Guardiola was discussing Haaland's new ten-year contract he made it clear that anybody coming in will be second choice. That dynamic prompted Julian Alvarez to leave in the summer, while Gabriel Jesus departed before getting the chance to play with Haaland due to the competition.

But Aguero feels that there is no reason why Marmoush cannot play in the same system as Haaland, pointing to his own productive relationship with Jesus before they both departed the Etihad.

"Why wouldn't he be able to play alongside Haaland?" Aguero asked, speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News (via Stake) "It will depend on the specifics of each match and how Pep sets up the formation. Just like Pep found a path to have Gabriel Jesus and I play together effectively."

Aguero also compared Marmoush to Kevin De Bruyne in terms of his impact after joining City from the Bundesliga, while he backed Haaland to break Alan Shearer's Premier League goals record of 260 - which would also put Aguero's record of all-time goals for City under serious threat.
