‘I have a full time job and two side hustles but still had to move back in with my parents due to the cost of living crisis’

A Manchester-based content creator says she's been forced to move back in with her parents due to the rising cost of living. Despite having a full-time job and working two side hustles, Demi-Lee Burns has told her TikTok followers that living away from home is no longer sustainable during the cost of living crisis.

The 27-year-old, who is currently documenting her move home on TikTok, said in a video she is 'sick to death' of worrying about money and 'counting pennies in the supermarket' to check she can afford the food she's there for.

She explained that she made the decision to move back in with her parents after living on her own for over a year.

“With everything going up it has literally just become unaffordable. I have a full time job, I also make money on the side doing make-up and content creation and it’s still not enough,” she said on her TikTok account demileeburnsx.

In a video that has since gained over 110k views, Demi says she is taking what she sees as a “massive step back” in life by moving home so she can save up and pay some stuff off “and basically start again.”

Demi acknowledged she is in the fortunate position to move back in with her parents so she can get back on her feet and added that she will be contributing to her parents bills as she stays there, however is disheartened the cost of living has gone “so out of control” that she has had to make the decision.

In another video, Demi elaborated on how the cost of living crisis impacted her, particularly the price of energy bills.
