'I expect more' - Shota Arveladze frustrated as Hull City bow out of Carabao Cup

Shota Arveladze admits he expected more from his Hull City players at Bradford City on Tuesday night, as the Tigers exited the Carabao Cup following a dismal 2-1 defeat. Despite taking a first half lead through Ozan Tufan, Mark Hughes' Bantams scored twice in six minutes at the end of the first half to turn the game on its head.

Arveladze made a host of changes at half-time and throughout the second half, bringing on Benjamin Tetteh and Oscar up front, but City failed to create anything of note even with 65 percent of the ball.

"I expect more from the boys," he told Hull Live. "You can say great touch from the striker for the first one, he wasn't really free, it was a hard cross. You should not forget the striker who scored a good goal."

Ozan's well-crafted opener appeared to put the Tigers well on their way, but Andy Cook's brace turned the tie in Bradford's favour, with Arveladze admitting his side took their foot off the gas after going in front.

"I think so, you could already see this and they know this, I've mentioned it. That's cost us.

"That’s what we expected. Tough, hard, it wasn’t easy. I expected it. We’ve been telling the players this," he said. "We have to give them credit and congratulate them, they worked hard for this win.

"We stopped. We scored a goal and stopped. They had five corners in the first half, it gives them time. It’s hard for me to accept. We take it too easy which is very very sad and for the club.

"It happens all the time in cup games. If we took lessons it would not happen in cup games. It makes it exciting. We will talk about it, say goodbye to this competition."
